Independent Platform
One nice thing about Independents is that they consider a full platform to be part of the campaign material. Candidates from more established parties either figure you know the business as usual from their camp and would/would not vote for it, or you could look up party platforms.
Leslie Bory, Independent Candidate for the Riding of Vaughan, has this platform:
-end "power sharing" with the British Monarchy, especially the approval of unelected senators by unelected foreigners
-"we must distance ourselves from, and oppose imperialist American foreign policy" (how that would be done is not ever made clear, just that it would save the lives of selfless Canadian and American soldiers)
-suspend all international trade agreements and pursue a "Canada for Canadians" policy, including protectionism tariffs and bans to rebuild the manufacturing sector. "The world is not a fair place. Canadians should only be expected to compete against Canadians."
-"start working on an exit strategy" to reduce pesticide and herbicide use on agricultural lands, outlaw genetically modified organisms and seeds, ban the importation of dairy products containing Bovine Growth Hormone, feed no blood products to animals, end high density factory animal production
-end harmful petroleum recovery practices that spoil water supplies
-make the 407 a public free to use right of way, to reduce air pollution caused by idling cars on the other 400 series highways
-eliminate high occupancy vehicle lanes on highways
-decentralize the power generating capacity of the country by opting to equip businesses and homes with self-sustaining local generation sources whenever possible
-ban foreign interests from exploiting natural resources in Canada, because they won't clean up the mess after they're done
-no longer allow private banks to create currency
-no longer charge interest on the use of currency
-money used to pay off the mortgage market would be used to pay down the national debt, in turn eliminating property tax
All photocopied on paper, three pages total, held together by a staple. Written entirely in capital letters, in the same style as a musician blogger I currently have in mind.
