I hope not to sound too much like it's a sure thing, but on the weekend I will be looking at a living space south of Bloor. The inclusive price is great, the main organizer is my cousin, it's pet friendly, and I'm just going to make sure I can tuck Liam's cage in some suitable nook because Liam represents the most demanding part of my tenancy. One which I haven't heard a single grumble about so far. It altogether seems like the best offer I have received. If things go well, I will move there some time in May.

Would this be just you & Liam, or your parents as well?

Just me and my pet and two roommates. The location isn't ideal for parents at all--not geographically, and not physically. It's probably a smallish house and the rent is being split three ways: me, cousin and another guy. I don't think there would be room for two others on top of that.

Parents are still looking. It's really difficult to sell any idea to mom, but hopefully it will be easier once dad isn't taking me into account.

Rightio, then. Not knowing Toronto, I had no context for the new location (beyond what a Google Map might provide), and no idea how big the place might be.

Yeah, sorry about that. They might be looking to move closer to Steeles Avenue, which acts as a northern border of sorts for Toronto. We're all currently near Highway 7, which is even further north, and also as far west as Kipling (same name as the western-most subway station, which is as far south as Bloor, which is fairly south of Steeles).

I would say I'm putting myself in the middle of the city, in terms of north/south, but on the west end. Location works for me, I will be able to hop over to most places where I go with much less time and fuss than it presently requires.

That does sound like an improvement if most of your movements are in the city itself. And since your work isn't location-dependent, presumably that doesn't have to be a consideration, so it's a win all round...

Yep! And I feel better looking for different employment in a place where I intend to live. It's tough to feel motivated to do that in Woodbridge, where at any moment I could have done what I'm trying to do now. If a potential employer knew I was up to that, just quitting and moving away at a moment's notice, they might not be keen on hiring me at all.
