Today began with a surprise. I did plan to wake up early, expecting mail, but my guess about the type of mail was wrong. No flash, no spare battery, no bag. UPS showed up with the chinchilla cage.
I spent the next three hours putting it together. Somewhere in that span, I paused to e-mail the animal rescue lady and schedule to pick up my new pet on Saturday the 21st. All seems well.
I later finished the four hour and twenty minute file for transcribing. At least the recorded discussion had to do with things not usually discussed by typical clients.
Then I went through a blog roll and sent some queries. I may step back from that on Saturday, to chill and to consider how to make 100% sure I'm being professional and not in any way spammy about what I'm doing. I already pay mind to submission guidelines, send only one message to each recipient, and write a fresh message each time; no copypasta. I should be okay.
I'll be bringing the new critter home in the afternoon. I hope he finds enough to do. There's more cage furniture and treats due to arrive on Monday. In the meantime, it's more about putting some bedding at the bottom of the cage and allowing him a nice fleece blanket to snuggle. It's the same blanket that will hide him in his carrier, and also the same blanket that a hedgehog once used.
