Today I donated whole blood for the sixteenth time overall. With that, 2010's donation count already beats pitiful 2009; it doubles the amount so far, with another appointment booked in July.

Granted that 2009 was difficult because I was on painkillers, pre-surgery, post-surgery, or waiting for a certain period of time to pass after such things. It wouldn't have been safe for me or others. Those obstacles have yet to appear in 2010.

The last time I witnessed a meteor shower, I wished on falling space debris twice. Why not? It is as good a time as any.

Wish number one was to become a great writer of fiction. I tried to revise the statement fifty times in my head, because I'm too used to stories where the genie or wish-granter (sometimes Satan) acts like a spiteful attorney and finds a way to give people something that fits the words said without actually granting the wish.

Wish number two was to win thirty million dollars in the lottery, in order to keep five million for myself not to have to work crap jobs anymore, and for my family, and to line up 25 Toronto-area charities to give $1 million each, preferably within the span of a single week.

I can't deny that the first wish seems ever more likely, but they seem comparably silly at times. One more than the other points to what is preferable in life for a mere hedgehog keeper.
