I've resigned myself to getting a good padlock and heading for dormitory type spots, but that's as far as I get. I'm hoping for some advice, which I know I can get from some people who used to live there like Mystress (whoops, she's over on LJ).
For travel, I'm probably looking at the NeON route that has a limited number of one dollar seats, which I doubt I'll grab up in time. The best thing I see about the bus is that Syracuse is a stop on its route, so I can coordinate my little Syracuse side stop either at the beginning or end of my trip. It would at least cut my travel-in-one-day time in half for either the way there or the way back. It's looking like $86 in one direction and $42 in the other, for example. Better rates than I can get by train or plane, and money is the main factor here.
Most importantly, I'm set to renew my passport. The fact is, if I don't do that, I won't have proper ID for going to a bar let alone travel (not legal to use photo health cards for ID). The government provides a nice website that lets me expedite the process and I've sent the URL to dad who says it looks good to him. I still need proper photos.
