On Tuesday I returned to the chat for the benefit of somebody who didn't appear during my time there. I've realized that the digital space inspires a sort of manic rushed clowning from most of its occupants, and I'm no different. Nobody is complaining, either, because everybody is somewhat part of it. Except for one person who matters a lot, isn't complaining, but doesn't seem happy with the madness either. Unfortunately, if we're only ever going to see each other on this space, then this is the only version of me to be found. I will just have to live with that.

I will have to take my outline and notes and try to add to them somehow. I will really get into this on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, no doubt inspired by the get-together on Thursday. I feel like I'm going to open up the notes and outline on November the first and realize I grossly underestimated what I need in order to know what I'm doing.

Since I haven't gotten to this often enough, I'm going to rattle off my notable recent iTunes downloads. Some of them might not fit on any playlist at all.

Big swing to the electronic side after falling off the precipice of Led Zeppelin - Kashmir. Five tracks from Combichrist followed by four picks from Project Pitchfork; one single VNV track serves as a full stop for that trend.

Then, because I saw them in New York, I went for Cruel Black Dove - Full Powers. It's basically an album entirely about sex, but I'm down with that.

Weird sharp turn to the pop from there, partly because of some guilt due to previous downloads I finally paid for four particular tracks of Michael Jackson on the basis that of everything he had ever done, I was most likely to listen to those four tracks multiple times. If you have a problem with that, then Beat It, just Beat It.

It's non sequitirs time again if you're looking for any connection between any of the next few tracks, but each has its reasons. I woke up to the sounds of Hold the Line the other day, so I just had to get Toto - Africa. It helps that I had two versions of it on YouTube and had to come clean about the fact that maybe I need the soft sounds of it during my process, once in a while. Compare that to the Johnny Cash which follows, simply because of a hockey commercial.

And then, something else that resulted partly from download guilt and partly from the need for epic sweeping music to write epic sweeping battle sequences, a couple of picks from Conan the Barbarian - The Soundtrack. I must say the live philharmonic version from Spain is five times superior, even though the only surviving version is a scratchy VHS recording of Spanish public television. It's a tragedy that no better recording could have been made by the original composer to supersede the cinematic version, because that remained possible until someone failed to record that particular show. And then Basil died of cancer shortly afterward.

I've learned that asking for recommendations on Twitter is like shouting into a hurricane. Nobody has anything because they would want general guidelines from me first. Unfortunately, my tastes being highly irrational, efforts to try and structure them for you tend to be deeply flawed and result in people either questioning things I know I like or suggesting things I really don't like on the basis of needless broken logic. I will have to do this alone.

Fortunately, the money I have spent on iTunes simply replaces the money I can't spend on alcohol or coffee of any kind. I suspect my finances may turn for the better just because my biggest use for cash now is cheap public transit and food, and I'm not usually out during a span of time where I need to pay for my own food.
