Cherries are okay for hedgehogs

No relief from virtual worlds today; one guy responded with interest and then applied to UCN, while another newbie threatened to bomb me in response to the invitation I sent.
I was hoping he would try to make good, because the game forbids me to declare war on him (hard-coded) but puny nations are always allowed to declare on behemoths. I call that reasoning "It's your funeral". Once a declaration occurs, I can do what I want no matter the enemy's size.
Instead, less than one hour later his account was deleted. He probably swore at an admin.
I'm having a terrible time with recruitment. I managed to get exactly one person to stay, and the rest of my legacy would be one ghost who left and another who is about to get ghostbusted. People ask me why I don't return to my original, effective message, the one which brought us that single good recruit. The answer is, I never keep a message for more than two uses. I may as well try to emulate the spirit of it, somehow, because the current one must be bad.

No relief from the world of sports. I've watched possibly the worst two games in a long time, Tuesday and Wednesday. What a world, where you can take the series from the Yankees but lose by a nine run differential two games in a row to the Tampa Bay Rays. Strange days have found us.

Oona's mood has improved. I was able to have a go at those front paw claws.
I've found that cherries are a safe treat, just as long as you don't include the pits or stems. Oona agrees and will gobble up half a cherry in one sitting. I gobbled up the other half of the cherry in one sitting, too, but it's less remarkable because my mouth is big.
I don't think cheering her up was a matter of cherries, though. I think she had become constipated somehow, and a small one-time amount of pumpkin did exactly what the forums claimed it would.
I still have the impression of a fat, grumpy hedgehog and have been trying to spend more time with her, but unfortunately that time was spent trimming claws so she won't remember it fondly.
