I love my book, and know that I have written what I would want to read. That’s not my problem. My problem is that I view myself as an unusual person, so there are still those readers to worry about--there is no way I can feel fundamentally secure in the idea that I’ve written a book anyone else in the world wants to read, beyond a few sympathetic beta readers who are generally friends and family. And so as I wait for reviews, I’m bracing to be told in a really scathing way that I’m an over-hyped simpleton who, through the charitable good nature of others, managed to pay his way to publication and publicity so that he could inflict his mediocrity upon others.
